Forthcoming sales

Damian's Hats that Help are planning a stall in the canteen at Southampton General Hospital. The date is yet to be confirmed but should be in November. Hats will also be on sale at The Learning Curve charity sale in December.

£1,100 given to Southampton Hospital Trust

'Hats that help' will now be known as Damian's Hats that Help - Damian was keen for us all to keep fundraising this way to support C3 ward, Chemo ward at Southampton General hospital where he received treatment for over two years during his journey with cancer. The web address remains unchanged.

On Friday, 2nd October, Damian's widow, Marisa and good friend, Sharon visited the charity office and delivered a cheque for £1,100. This represents the total funds raised by hats sold last year and by the Just Giving page set up after Damian died.  They also took along a selection of hats to be offered free to chemo patients.  It was an emotional visit because it was the first time they had been back to the hospital, but also a happy occasion knowing that they were helping people undergoing chemo now.

A huge thank you is due to everyone who bought hats, made hats, donated hats or gave us money in memory in Damian. We couldn't have done it without you.

Damian's Hats that Help are getting back into the swing for this season and the fundraising continues. We will be selling stock hats, as well as bespoke hats - buy one now :-).  But we still need your help: you can buy hats, make hats for us to sell or donate any unwanted wool you may have for our amazing hat makers to transform. Contact us now and let us know how you would like to be involved.

Thank you Castle Combe Market

Casatle comber
The lovely people at the monthly market in Castle Combe have made a very generous donation to the coffers of Hats that Help. Thank you.

If anyone should find themselves in Castle Combe on the first Saturday of the month call in and check them out. Fresh produce, home made cakes, bread, chutneys, pickles, vinegars and all sorts of gifts from cards to scarves to jewellery.

You can find out more about the market on their Facebook page here.

Can you think of a name?

The Hats that Help team have been given a head! Not a live one but a nice white plastic one on which we can display our hats. The head, we think male but who knows, has made an appearance on this site wearing a variety of delightful hats. However, we think he (?) needs a name. Any suggestions gratefully received. Use the e mail link at the bottom of this page. The person who suggests the name which is eventually chosen will receive a loaf of Damian's bread! Yippee!! Get your thinking boshis on……..

Successful Hat sale at Southampton Hospital

One corner of the Hats that Help stall at Southampton Hospital
The first ever 'Hats that Help' hat sale at Southampton Hospital on February 10th was a great success. Despite the cold the two Joans, Marisa, Amelia and Vix set up and manned the stall (this photo shows just one small corner) and sold numerous hats (thanks to all the knitters and crocheters out there), hand made get well cards (thanks Amelia), edible treats (thanks Wendy), bread and more hats! Lots of happy customers, great people and supportive messages. Damian braved the cold and came to visit and Southampton Hospital Charity took lots of pictures. Our own photo's will be up on the site and on Facebook as soon as we can get them there. More than £280 was raised on the day from sales and many people made a donation to the Southampton Hospital Charity. More lovely people have offered to help cook, knit and crochet for a future event.

As a direct result of the event at Southampton, Hats that Help have also been asked to have a stand at a sale in Basingstoke in May - we still have to find out the date to see if this might be feasible.

A big thank you to all who supported us.
